What does the R Street Partnership do?

The R Street Sacramento Partnership (RSSP) is dedicated to keeping the R Street Corridor clean, safe, and thriving. Every day, we work to enhance the neighborhood through programs that improve safety, maintain cleanliness, advocate for smart public policy, and promote the district as a destination for business, dining, and community life.

Funded through the RSSP PBID, these efforts support existing businesses, attract new investment, and help make R Street one of Sacramento’s most vibrant and welcoming corridors.

Enhanced Area Maintenance & security

Our Clean Team is dedicated to keeping the district clean, welcoming, and well-maintained five days a week. Their work focuses on the public right-of-way and includes a wide range of services. Trash and debris are blown, removed, and properly disposed of from sidewalks, gutters, curbs, trash and tree grates. Leaves are regularly cleared from sidewalks and gutters to maintain clear walkways and prevent drainage issues. Bulky items that are illegally dumped in public areas are removed promptly to ensure the district remains clean and safe. Unauthorized posters, stickers, and advertisements are taken down from public property to maintain a tidy appearance. Additionally, graffiti is reported and removed from public-facing surfaces to preserve a professional and attractive district environment.

To enhance public safety and maintain a welcoming atmosphere, the district contracts with a private security team that patrols the area daily. These trained officers provide a visible presence, helping to deter unwanted activity, assist businesses, and respond to concerns from property owners, employees, and visitors. Working in close coordination with local law enforcement, the security team supports police response efforts through effective communication and rapid information sharing, all in a shared commitment to keeping the district safe and secure

Entertainment Zones

RSSP has worked with the Sacramento City of Sacramento to support an ordinance establishing designated entertainment zones that will support local business, economic development, and create a festive event atmosphere.

Entertainment zones are areas where the consumption of alcoholic beverages is allowed on public streets, sidewalks or other public rights-of-way during special events. Under Senate Bill 969, which took effect in 2024. When active, they allow patrons to purchase to-go alcoholic beverages from licensed bars, restaurants, breweries and wineries and consume them in common public areas.

Advocacy & District Representation

The R Street Sacramento Partnership (RSSP) serves as a united and influential voice for property and business owners along the R Street Corridor. By bringing stakeholders together, the RSSP ensures that the priorities and concerns of the District are clearly heard at the city and regional level. Our dedicated staff actively represent the District in front of public agencies, decision-makers, and community partners, advocating for policies, resources, and improvements that directly support the vitality of the area. From securing additional funding and services to advancing initiatives that enhance safety, accessibility, and economic growth, the RSSP works every day to strengthen the District’s position as one of Sacramento’s most dynamic and thriving destinations.
